Anne Scheid

The year was 1973, a time when new and unfamiliar perspectives of the world were beginning to form. Anne, as an undergraduate at a liberal arts college in the Midwest, was taking a comparative religion class. When she read “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramhansa Yogananda, she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she had found a path she wanted to pursue. But it wasn’t until some 15 years later, when she moved to California, that she met teachers, trained in the techniques she read about in Autobiography and began a meditation practice.

Anne is schooled as an artist. The solitary, disciplined practice of the studio was good training for a future meditator. Exhibiting her artwork is a necessary part of being an art professional but the act of teaching is a choice. Anne came to California to teach art at Fresno City College in 1991 and found teaching a rewarding career. Sharing the learned lessons of her studio with budding art students was a true-job, one that gave her the energy to continue the creativity in her own studio.

Now a long-time meditator she continues her study of the history and philosophy of Yoga and Meditation. She received her certification to teach Ananda® Meditation in 2017 from the Expanding Light Retreat Center at Ananda Village, Nevada City, CA.

Anne received her B.A. in Art from Edgecliff College, her M.A. and M.F.A. in Fine Art from the University of Cincinnati.
